Dentist Recommendations?

Main Post:

I have delta dental and am in downtown. Went to SD dental arts b/c they had good google score and website looked professional but felt like that just upsold me and I didn't have a chance to have an in depth discussion about my concerns (plus hygienst kept me waiting 30 mins).

Any recommendations for dentists that do crowns, bridges? Bonus if they do invisalign in house as I'd need a new retainer.

I like Rio Vista Family Dentistry in Mission Valley. My hygienist is the best I've had in 30 years on this earth; very thorough and knowledgeable. She has gotten my dental health back on track and I can tell she cares about her patients. The front desk staff is great (which can be uncommon in dental and medical offices).

What’s the best and honest dentist in San Diego you would recommend?

Main Post: What’s the best and honest dentist in San Diego you would recommend?

Top Comment: Dean van Nguyen in north park. It’s him and my dentist, dr. Karina scalercio. It’s not the nicest office or the newest, but the staff are amazing. Scalercio gives you a lot of information, answers questions, says why she’s doing stuff and references a lot of recent studies etc. AVOID any dentist office owned by pacific dental service - their logo is the circle of gray teeth with one blue tooth at 2:00. Mission valley dentists and mission hills dentists are two examples. They upsell a ton of stuff that you don’t need, they have poorly trained staff, they have a lot of turnover, they cancel appointments on short notice - they’re a giant corporate profit machine and don’t give a shit about you as a patient.

Looking for a non-judgemental kind dentist in San Diego.

Main Post:

I have MAJOR dental anxiety and really would like to get in soon. Any suggestions?

Top Comment: I really like Terry McClanahan in North Park. His whole thing is sedation dentistry, so if you have dental anxiety bad enough that you need to be sedated, even for minor procedures, they will do so for you at no cost. Even if you don't need that level, their focus is on alleviating anxiety and being kind and patient and whatnot. I didn't realize that was their specialty before I chose their practice (I do not have dental anxiety). They were just the fastest, most responsive practice in my area and the quickest to schedule an appointment and their admin staff was super nice and helpful. So if you're trying to get in quickly and also have dental anxiety, I think they would be one of the better spots to pick.

Dentist recommendation (UTC area)?

Main Post:

I'm looking for dentist recommendations in the UTC area and am willing to go to Sorrento Valley as well. I have dental insurance and am just looking for a dentistry that has my best interest in mind.

My current one has gone downhill in the past few years. Always peddling add-on cleaning services that insurance won't cover. Pushing products like water flosses and electric toothbrushes that they conveniently sell in-house and allegedly get directly from the manufacturer and can't be found in stores. It's abundantly clear they're out to make money and not hiding it well.

Grateful for recommendations for dentists that, well, don't do the above! Thank you!

Dentistry in San Diego

Main Post:

Hi, I’m thinking of moving to San Diego. Was wondering how the market is down there. I like doing all aspects of dentistry, endo, exts and implants.

Curious if patient go down to Tijuana for tx like that since it’s so close.

Thanks in advance,

One of the most desirable living locations in the entire USA. This is why real estate there is crazy. It will be saturated with dentists.
